Doradillo Velas is a non-profitable association, based in Puerto Madryn, Patagonia, Argentina.
Our objectives are :
- To support scientific investigation
We accompany the local authorities in the investigation of marine biology in Patagonia through logistic means, human resources and statistical analysis.
- To participate in the conservation of the marine ecosystem:
We gather and process data for the management of the Patagonian coast
- We are promoting naturalist and scientific tourism:
Being involved in local conservational projects, we aim to keep tourism to an appropriate number, to reduce its impact on the biodiversity. The missions are open to everyone. The volunteers do
not need previous experience either in biology, or in sailing; they would integrate with a team of experienced scientists and sailors.
- Proposal for a useful and responsible way of sailing
We have developed cooperation with yacht owners, locals and travellers, for them to participate in the scientific expeditions.
“Doradillo Velas” refers to Doradillo, a nature reservation approximately 15 kilometres to the north of Puerto Madryn. The association is
established near this. From inside the reserve “Doradillo”, between June and December, right whales can be seen jumping metres from the shore.
