Role of the volunteers

This programme would not exist if it was not because of the eco volunteers. The participation, work and financial support of the eco volunteers is very important for the scientists. Gathering data is what the work is based on when publishing studies.

During the expeditions the volunteers will take part in the following tasks:

• Observation in land or on board
• Gathering data in forms (GPS, biology, meteorology)
• Introducing data on the computer, data base
• Photo identification
• Laboratory work
• Translating, making documents
• Assisting the biologists

Moreover, we expect the volunteers to help in the domestic tasks that involves living aboard the boat and whilst camping; helping with cleaning and cooking, etc. There is not a working schedule; working would depend on the weather conditions. We would like to remind you that no previous biology or sailing experience is required.   

However, the volunteers can look forward to enough free time to enjoy walking treks and fishing. We should mention to you that Patagonia is a desert, there is almost no rain and some days there is plenty of wind. During that time, we would be enjoying plenty of terrestrial fauna (guanacos, eagles, penguins, etc).
